Cornea and ocular surface
How much has my corneal endothelial cell count changed?
Enter endothelial cell density from two specular microscopy reports to see the change in cells per square millimetre and as a percentage, with optional hexagonality and coefficient of variation.
Absolute change = later − earlier density. Percentage decrease = 100 × (earlier − later) ÷ earlier; an increase is labelled as an increase in measured density. Hexagonality and coefficient of variation changes are shown in percentage points.
Counts depend on the area sampled and image quality, and guttae or swelling make them harder to read in Fuchs dystrophy. A higher count on its own does not show that cells have regrown. Decisions about prognosis or a transplant stay with your cornea specialist.
