Amsler grid self-check

Do straight lines look wavy, blurry or missing in one eye?

← All eye calculators

About this calculator

The Amsler grid is a simple way to watch for changes in central vision, such as straight lines looking wavy. Check one eye at a time, tap the squares that look wrong, and print the result to bring to your eye doctor.

What you need

How it is calculated

The grid has 20 × 20 squares around a central dot. The tool counts the squares you mark for each eye; it does not measure or diagnose anything. Marks stay only in this browser tab and are cleared when you close the page.

What the result can and cannot tell you

If wavy, blurry or missing areas are new, or worse than last time, contact your eye doctor promptly. This is a self-check, not an eye exam, and it cannot rule out eye disease. Marks stay only in this browser tab.
