The condition
Wet (neovascular) age-related macular degeneration develops when abnormal blood vessels grow and leak fluid or blood beneath the macula. It can change central vision quickly, which is why prompt diagnosis and regular anti-VEGF injections from a retina specialist are the foundation of care. Polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy (PCV) is a related form managed similarly.
The injections do their job. You still deserve support around them.

Is NRT covered by health insurance?
NRT is a holistic treatment and is not covered by health insurance. It is offered as a self-pay treatment.

Can NRT reduce or replace my eye injections?
No. Anti-VEGF injections are the proven treatment for wet AMD, and NRT is not a substitute for them. Any change in injection frequency is a decision your retina specialist makes based on your imaging and response to treatment - never something to attempt on your own.
What is the difference between wet and dry AMD?
Dry AMD is a gradual thinning of the macula; wet AMD involves abnormal, leaking blood vessels and can change vision quickly. Dry AMD can convert to wet AMD, which is why monitoring - and urgent review of new distortion - matters in both.
How is NRT different from conventional treatment?
Specialist care is essential for diagnosis, retinal monitoring, genetic counseling and access to legitimate clinical trials. NRT is an adjunctive program that considers nutrition safety, daily visual function and whole-person factors alongside that care—it does not replace it.
Can NRT cure wet AMD?
No. NRT should not be described as a cure or a replacement for retina care or anti-VEGF treatment. Any supportive benefit should be assessed against predefined functional goals alongside standard retinal monitoring.
Should I take AREDS2 vitamins?
