Why multiple pathways matter
See how Netra Restoration Therapy complements conventional eye care by addressing multiple biological pathways that may influence corneal nerve health and pain signaling.

Corneal neuralgia—also called neuropathic corneal pain—is linked to abnormal signaling within the corneal pain pathway. The ocular surface may appear normal or only mildly disrupted, while the person experiences severe and persistent symptoms.
Common experiences include:
A broader perspective
Conventional evaluation remains essential: it can identify dry-eye disease, inflammation, infection, structural problems and other causes requiring medical treatment. Yet persistent neuropathic pain may also involve nerve sensitization, immune signaling, tear-film instability and systemic influences.
NRT does not compete with that care. It adds an individualized, systems-based layer of support for the biological environment in which corneal nerves function and recover.

Complements existing care by considering interconnected nerve, inflammatory, metabolic, ocular-surface and whole-person factors.
Different roles. One coordinated goal.
How NRT approaches the problem
Your plan begins with your history and presentation—not a generic protocol. NRT considers six domains that may influence ocular comfort and nerve resilience.
Supporting the biological environment around irritated or dysregulated corneal sensory nerves.
Considering inflammatory signaling that may contribute to peripheral nerve sensitivity and discomfort.
Looking at tear-film stress and surface irritation as part of the nerve–surface relationship.
Supporting tissue resilience where oxidative load or metabolic health may influence nerve recovery.
Recognizing that persistent pain may involve peripheral, central, or mixed sensitization patterns.
Accounting for sleep, stress, autonomic balance and systemic factors that may shape pain experience.
These pathways are considered as part of an integrative support framework; they do not establish the cause of pain in an individual patient or guarantee a treatment outcome.

Netra Eye Institute combines the perspective of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurveda and modern ocular physiology within an individualized, adjunctive care framework. We consider the person experiencing the pain—not only the appearance of the eye.
Questions, answered
People may describe burning, stinging, aching, stabbing or electric sensations. Light, wind, air conditioning, screens or temperature changes may trigger symptoms. The level of pain can sometimes appear out of proportion to routine ocular-surface findings.
Corneal nerve disturbance after refractive surgery or another ocular procedure may be one possible contributor. Persistent postoperative pain should be evaluated by an ophthalmologist or corneal specialist to identify ocular-surface disease and exclude other causes.
Conventional care is essential for diagnosis, ocular-surface treatment, medication management and ruling out urgent or structural disease. NRT is an adjunctive program that considers a broader set of biological and whole-person factors that may influence corneal nerve health and pain regulation. It is intended to complement—not replace—your existing care.
No cure or specific result can be guaranteed. NRT is presented as individualized, complementary support. Response varies based on the source, duration and complexity of symptoms, as well as each patient’s health history.
No. Continue medications and ophthalmic care as directed. Any medication change should be made only with the prescribing clinician. Netra encourages coordinated care with your ophthalmologist and other treating professionals.
