Netra Eye Institute is in South Plainfield, New Jersey. There are currently no branch offices.
What is Netra Restoration Therapy (NRT)?
NRT is an individualized complementary eye-care program that may combine acupuncture, traditional East Asian medicine, Ayurvedic approaches and supportive lifestyle guidance. Its purpose is to support the biological environment surrounding visual function while patients remain under conventional eye care.
Does NRT replace my ophthalmologist’s treatment plan?
No. Continue prescribed medications, injections, laser treatment, surgery and monitoring. NRT does not replace ophthalmic diagnosis or standard care.
What results can I expect?
Results vary by diagnosis, severity, remaining viable tissue, general health and other factors. No specific result or timeline can be guaranteed for every patient. Changes should be evaluated with both functional reports and appropriate objective testing.
How long is a course of treatment?
A recommended schedule is individualized after consultation. Courses may range from approximately two to four weeks, with follow-up recommendations based on the condition, response and clinical judgment.

Do I need to come to the office?
Hands-on NRT treatment is delivered in person at the South Plainfield office. Initial information and selected follow-up discussions may be available remotely when appropriate.
What happens during the initial consultation?
The team reviews your diagnosis, symptoms, available eye records, current treatment plan, general health and goals. Netra does not perform a comprehensive ophthalmologic examination or replace retinal, glaucoma, corneal or neuro-ophthalmic evaluation.
What records should I bring?
Bring recent ophthalmology notes and relevant OCT, visual-field, fundus, angiography, topography or electrophysiology reports, along with a medication and supplement list.
Can children receive treatment?
Suitability for minors is determined individually and requires parent or guardian involvement. Pediatric patients must continue care with the appropriate pediatric eye specialist.
Is NRT covered by health insurance?
NRT and herbal products are generally not covered as a bundled holistic eye-care program. Coverage for acupuncture varies by plan, diagnosis and benefit rules; patients should verify directly with their insurer.
Can I use HSA, FSA or HRA funds?

Why might my eye doctor be unfamiliar with NRT?
